The First and the Last

“Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, praising God, gave thanks and asked Him to bless it to their use, and when He had broken it, He gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat: this is My body. And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink of it, all of you; for this is My Blood of the new covenant, which [ratifies the agreement and) is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:26-28)

This is the first and the last supper all at once. The last supper Jesus had while on Earth and the very first supper of the new covenant. He is the First and the Last!

So many people take Communion week after week in Church without realizing the full impact of what it really means. Put aside the fact that just the physical agony Jesus went through and the incredible amount of blood He lost through all that. Even put aside the fact that He died for people who hated and still hate Him to this day.

The Cross was and is the greatest and most complete defeat of Satan’s kingdom on this earth! Jesus literally redeemed us, He brought us OUT of this black hole we were in and the destruction we were headed for! But the really great thing He did was to pave the way for each one of us to have a personal, a daily relationship with God the Father! Something that had not been seen since Adam. To count this as nothing or lightly is a tragedy.

Beloved, I encourage you to consider all of this the next time you take communion. Even more so, you don’t have to take it just at church! It is a privilege to take communion anytime and Jesus said as often as you take it, do it in remembrance of Him. You will notice, as I have, that taking communion every morning, will bring you that much closer to Him.

Blessings everyone…
