Kingdom Wealthy

“I know your record of works and what you are doing; you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth!  For you say, I am rich; I have prospered and grown wealthy, and I am in need of nothing; and you do not realize and understand that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.

Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be truly wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes that you may see.  Those whom I dearly and tenderly love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

Behold I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he will eat with Me.  He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne.

He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Holy Spirit says to the churches. (Revelation 4:15-22)

Complacency is a dangerous place to be.  It is lackluster, ho-hum, and ineffective.  It’s like letting a great cup of steaming hot coffee get tepid.  It’s good for nothing but to throw it out.  Complacency says to the Lord, “I don’t really need You because I have done it all myself.”  Gaining material things and losing your relationship with the Lord is not a good trade-off!

The church at Laodicea were prosperous folks.  They had prosperous businesses, plenty of food, great clothes and lots of animals.  But at what cost of their spiritual life?  The Lord loves to bless us with things, but our passion, our number one priority is Him.  Our lives must still be centered around Him.  Great wealth is a tool in the Kingdom of God.  God uses wealth to advance the Kingdom.

So many people come from humble beginnings and with God’s blessings get wealthy only to fail the prosperity test and shipwreck their faith.  Like the rich young ruler, are we really willing to give it all up for the kingdom?  Jesus said “all things are possible.”

True wealth is found in Him alone.  The gold you buy from Him is eternal.  Moths can’t corrupt the white robes He has for us.  He is looking for the people who have “sold out” to Him.  Who are willing to leave it all behind for Him.  In this day and age of complacency in the churches, it is a challenge to find them.  Jesus had many followers.  He had multitudes following Him everywhere He went.  But as the road got narrower and the way harder, they began to fall away until only twelve remained, one betrayed Him and another denied knowing Him and the rest ran away.  But…all but one returned and bought that refined gold from Him.  They put on those white robes He had for them and they turned the world upside down for Jesus!

Nothing has changed folks.  Many people say they follow Jesus.  They go to church on Sunday and Wednesday nights.  They put a few dollars in the offering plate on Sunday and then they go home to their nice life and forget about Him until the next Sunday.  Others go deeper and get involved in ministries such as prayer or the choir or evangelism.  They are willing to pay the price to spend more time and more money.

Then there are those who are consumed with God.  Some have passionately loved Him from childhood and never stopped while others He pulled out of the gutter and cleaned up.  Like Mary Magdalene, they love Him deeply because He saved them from so much.  Their every waking thought is on Him.  The daily decisions of their lives include Him.  Their speech includes Him.  Their actions include Him.  Their financial decisions include Him.  These folks are truly wealthy…they are Kingdom wealthy.  Their treasures are great in Heaven.  They are content even if they are living in a mud hut in Africa somewhere as long as they are in the center of His will.

The really good news is that if you are lukewarm, Jesus can heat you back up to that delicious cup of steaming hot coffee!  He loves you!  He wants you to be truly wealthy–Kingdom wealthy!  He’s knocking…open the door.

Blessings everyone…
