Vessels In The Master’s House

“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils] of wood and earthenware, some for honorable and noble use and some for menial and ignoble use. So whoever cleanses himself from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences will then himself be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.” (II Timothy 2:20-21)

I used to read this scripture and thought it was God’s will that some people be vessels of wood and earthenware, but that isn’t true. The word “whoever” is a game-changer in our standing as vessels in the Master’s house.

When we came to the Lord, we were filthy and full of evil ways. Our thoughts, words and actions were evil and carnal (fleshly). But as our relationship with Him grows, our thinking changes and our words start changing and finally our actions start changing. As we continue to walk with God, we eventually become vessels of gold and silver and He can use us for awesome purposes!

But this is a process and all along the way, He loves us and is perfectly willing to use us as vessels of wood and earthenware–because you know what? These vessels are useful too! God uses everyone and everything to advance His kingdom. He has the power to turn wood into gold and pottery into silver!

His plans and purposes for us are always good and of great benefit to us regardless of where we are in our walk with Him. That is the beauty of the Kingdom of God–wooden vessels are equally treasured by Him because He loves every one of His creation!

Blessings everyone…
