“Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things are passed away.
The He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:1-8)
The ultimate purpose of Jesus Christ being born in a stable and dying on the cross was so God the Father could fulfill His most passionate wish. That wish is that He can dwell with His people. “Behold, the tabernacle of God is WITH men, and He will dwell with them.” For me personally, I am like a child waiting to open presents on Christmas morning; bouncing up and down with excitement. I can hardly wait for this blessed event to happen!
We are living in perilous times, indeed, these days are so fearful. We all read the news on the Internet and in the newspapers. It fills our Facebook news feed day after day. But God is on the move like never before. People are pouring into the Kingdom of God. The Bible says that “where evil abounds, there God’s grace much more abounds.” The harder Satan pushes his evil agenda in the earth, the more God is able to bring people to Him! Hard and fearful times drive people into the arms of God.
People of God, let these hard times be an opportunity to help people find Jesus so that they too, can be with Him in the New Jerusalem! Jesus said “the fields are white unto harvest; pray the LORD of the harvest for laborers.” As times get tougher, and they will get tougher, take heart that we are getting closer to that wonderful day when He will dwell with us face to face.
One of the many names of Jesus Christ is Emmanuel, which means God with us. He came to make it possible for us to forever dwell with God in the new Jerusalem. As we celebrate this Christmas season, give thanks to the God of heaven for sending His only Son to pave the way for us to live with God on that day!
