Our Choice

“Do not say, “the Lord was responsible for my sinning”, for He is never the cause of what He hates.  do not say, “It was He who led me astray.” for he has no use for a sinner.  the Lord hates all that is foul, and no one who fears Him will love it either.  He Himself made man in the beginning, and then left him free to make his own decisions.  If you wish, you can keep the commandments, to behave faithfully is within your power.

He has set fire and water before you; put out your hand to whichever you prefer.  Man has life and death before him; whichever a man likes better will be given him.  For vast is the wisdom of the Lord; He is almighty and all-seeing.  His eyes are on those who fear Him, He notes every action of man.  He never commanded anyone to be godless, He has given no one permission to sin.” (Ecclesiastes 15:11-32)

Leave it to Solomon to lay it out there in so practical a way.  So many times we are our own worst enemy.  At the very core of it all, it is our choice.  We all have been given the privilege of being a free moral agent.  We have the freedom of choice.  Even if we live in a nation that is not free, we are free in this area regardless of our natural circumstances.  Life or death.  Every day we have that choice.  Do I follow God’s ways today or the heck with Him, I’m doing it my way.

This choice is played twenty-four seven by every human being alive today.  To those who have died during the last twenty-four hours, their choice has been set for all eternity.  Life or death.  Life with God or death in Hell.  The Bible says “there is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment.”  When a person dies and they have not accepted Jesus’sacrifice; repented of their sins and been cleansed by His blood, then they are considered “foul.”  And foul things cannot be in the presence of the Almighty.  They just can’t be.  That is the fire a person chooses in this life.

The water is life.  There is a river of life that flows from the throne of God to all who would drink.  He wants everyone to freely drink of it–if they choose to.  He will NOT force anyone to come to Him.  He is not heavy-handed when it comes to this important choice.  And it is the most important choice all of us have to make.  Our eternal destination is directly impacted by this choice.

It doesn’t matter what religion you are or if you are an atheist, agnostic, wiccan, new ager or whatever.  The choice is still the same.  Fire or water.  Life or death.  Heaven or Hell.  God has provided the escape route through the blood of Jesus Christ.  He is the lifeline for us to escape destruction.  The Bible says “broad is the way that leads to destruction, but narrow is the way that leads to life.”

It is because of God’s great love for you that He has provided this escape.  It is an escape because we are all born on the highway to hell.  He has made a path where there was no path for us to find Him.  He is waiting for us to make the choice…

Blessings everyone…
