Who Do You Say that I Am?

“Now when Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, Who do people say that the Son of Man is?  And they answered, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.  He said to them, But who do you say that I am?  Simon Peter replied You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Then Jesus answered him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah.  For flesh and blood men have not revealed this to you, but My Father Who is in heaven.  And I tell you, you are Peter, the rock, and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not overpower it.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth must be what is already bound in heaven, and whatever you loose must be what is already loosed in heaven.  Then He sternly and strictly charged and warned the disciples to tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.” (Matthew 16:13-20)

Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Godhead, crossed eternity and entered time to build a bridge over the flames of hell so that we can once again walk in the same victory that Adam did.  We can have the same friendship with the Father that Adam enjoyed before the fall.

As in the days Jesus was on earth, the same question remains for every person to answer: “Who do you say that I am?”  Today we hear the same answers.  Jesus was a mythical character.  Jesus was the greatest prophet.  Jesus was a good teacher and prophet.  These are the definitions of people who don’t know Him personally.  Those who know Him personally say that He is the Son of the Living God because they KNOW Him.

Unlike the days of the disciples, we are to proclaim from the mountaintops that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  Jesus was preparing to go to Jerusalem to be the sacrifice and He would proclaim that Himself.  That is why He strictly forbade the disciples from saying anything.  It wasn’t time yet for them to do that.  Now we do it every chance we get!

Everyone will answer this one question one way or another.  That question is still hanging as an unanswered question in everyone’s life until they answer yes to Jesus.  We are living in the age of grace, where God’s arms are opened wide to receive anyone who believes in His Son Jesus and accepts His sacrifice for sin.  It is the season of “whosoever will” come, can come freely and receive the gift of eternal life.

Who do you say that Jesus Christ is?

Don’t know Him?

Meet Jesus Here…

Blessings everyone…
