The Lamp

Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.  For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them,  but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.  As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.  But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’  Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.  And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’  But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.  Afterward, the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’  But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’  Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” (Matthew 25:1-13 ESV)

I was talking with my sister just yesterday about the times we are living in and all that is happening in the world today.  She is a powerful intercessor, who has a very intimate relationship with Jesus.  I clean her house each month and she has a whole room designated as her prayer room.  It is a room that is bathed in prayer and in His presence.

She said that as she was praying about the end times and all that is going on, He clarified to her the meaning of the oil lamps of the ten virgins.  The oil represents His presence.  It represents the level of relationship a person has with Him.  The wick represents the level of holiness and sanctification that is evident in that person’s life.  The lamp represents the intimate relationship.  I was excited to see this revelation!  It’s been there all along but I never saw until she shared this word with me.

This parable represents the catching away of the Bride of Christ.  Yes, the RAPTURE of the Bride.  Many people in the Christian world don’t believe in the rapture or the catching away, or if they do, it’s a long way off.  However, Jesus has spoken to me and others in our prayer group that His return is very close.  It is imminent.  I’m not prophesying this, I am simply stating what I believe.  There is a difference.  I don’t claim to be a prophet who is saying “thus says the Lord.”  This event is written in His Word and it’s up to people to dig for the Truths found there.

Who is the Bride?  Is she comprised of everyone who says they are a Christian or believes in God or everyone who walks into a church once or twice a year?  No.  She is comprised of all the believers who have filled their lives with Him.  Jesus Christ IS their life.  He is the center of their life.  They live with Him in a face to face, intimate relationship where He has become the number one thing in their life.  His presence is the “oil” in the lamp.  He is coming for those who He knows intimately.  The Bible says that “many in that day will say Lord, Lord” and He will say “I never knew you.”  The critical questions is does HE KNOW YOU?

He is coming for a Bride who will rule and reign with Him when He comes to set up His Kingdom after the great tribulation.  He comes back with ten thousands of His saints.  This means that He came earlier to get them from the earth so they could come back with Him at the second coming.

Every Christian needs to keep their lamps filled with the intimate relationship and keep short accounts with God.  Don’t let sin have one second of your time!  That is trimming your wicks.  Repent quickly and resume your walk with Jesus.  The bottom line is this: to be a part of the Bride of Christ, you must know Him intimately.  If you are reading this and you feel a drawing to get closer to Him, all it takes is a decision to put Him as the center of your life and not just a part of it.  It is the best life you can live with Jesus at the helm!  Examine your “lamp” today and fill it up with Jesus…

Don’t know Him?

Meet Jesus Here…

Need to Return to Him?

Return to Him…

Blessings everyone….be ready!

Thank you for this post, Micki. I have for a long time believed that the Bride does not include every born-again Christian. Even Jesus had His more intimate disciples and the 3 came apart from the rest in the Garden of Gethsemane. It doesn’t mean the others won’t go to heaven. No one marries someone who isn’t intimately connected to them in relationship. So it stands to reason those who come to the Lord but don’t give their all could not be a part of His intimate Bride. I have not found many people who believe this.
