The Refiner’s Fire

“He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and He will purify the priests, the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord offerings in righteousness. Then will the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in ancient years…for I AM the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:3-6)

God uses everything. He finds opportunities in every situation in our lives to improve our lives; even in the middle of fiery trials and hard situations. He uses these times to purify us.

Think about this: to refine gold and silver, the metal must be heated to a certain temperature for a certain amount of time to allow the dross or the impurities to rise to the top. When the dross rises, the refiner scrapes it off. This process is continued until no more dross comes up. Then the metal is really pure gold and is the most valuable at that point.

Sometimes it seems like we are in a boiling caldron and God has abandoned us. Not so. He is using life’s trials to make us more and more valuable. Purer. Stronger and yes happier. The trials are not pleasant, but take heart you will come out stronger and better on the other side.

Blessings everyone…
